My name is Leonidas, I was born in Athens, Greece in 1984. I prefered reading books, listening to my dad's classical records and knitting with my grandma than playing ball. I also played with my cousin's Barbies a lot. That pretty much sums up my childhood.

The doll in the picture is my Kenner Blythe, Spondee. When I was born she had already been sitting somewhere for years, broken and bald, gathering dust and dirt, and just had to wait 21 more years for me to bid on her on ebay and save her. I don't believe in fate but when I think of this I'm very touched.

My collection of dolls must be reaching about 400 now. They're mostly vintage and contemporary, alas antique is out of my budget for the time being.

I live in London but dream of Tokyo. I take photographs of the personal, intimate and sexual variety, as well as doll photographs of course, sometimes mixing the two with infamous results. I customize and restore dolls, mostly Blythe, specializing in mohair reroots. But my greatest joy is in making clothes.

When it comes to fashion and aesthetics, I have two big loves that have little to do with each other.

60s pop culture, mod and 70s romanticism
&
Rococo, baroque, victoriana and contemporary japanese lolita culture.

Mod and Royal are mini brands that reflect these two sides of myself.
The concept of this website occured to me during my second trip to Japan in August 2007 and since I started working on it every night, listening to the music from "Ecole" which is playing in the background now. The name came from a song by french dark electronic band Die form. (download here)
