来月には東京へ行きます!ドールショウでブースがあって、Junie Moonでまたワークショップをします!そして名古屋でもワークショップをします。本当に本当に楽しみにしています。^^

以前にMOMOLITAさんと個展を開催してくださった、
人気作家レオニダスさんのワークショップを開催致します!!

今回も1日目はドレス、2日目帽子とケープです。
2日間で、レオのドレスセットを一緒に完成させましょう!
*こちらで、生地のカット、ピンタックは作っていきますので、
細かい作業が苦手な方も参加できます。

「ドレス」
フォアクロ風ニーレングズのドレスを作ります。
シンプルなドレスにロマンティックなレースを襟元にあしらい、
ピンタックされたスカートにはアンティークのレースを合わせ、
ディテールにこだわったドレスを仕上げていきます。

「帽子とケープ」
土曜日のドレスに合わせてフリルと1930年代イギリスのアンティークレースを使った
ニットケープとベロア素材のフルール・ド・リスのチャームと羽があしらわれた
タッセル付きの帽子を作ります。帽子はリバーシブルで中の花柄になっています。

★どちらの講座もミシンを使用しますが、先生に分かりやすく教えてくださいます。

I went to an antique market yesterday and made a few nice finds, a clockwork monkey, a vintage bunny face, really cute tiny lace and a bubblecut Barbie. I’d like to try and make a bunny plushie with that face!

I’m working on stuff for Doll Show in Tokyo next month.

This time I will sell a U-Noa outfit as well.

I’ve been making some nice breads with spelt as well, this is a walnut sourdough loaf, with a bit of rye in it too. The walnuts are wild, from my dad’s village.

I also made a wholegrain spelt loaf with dried figs that was very good eaten with blue cheese! And this spelt, avocado and hazelnut salad from Rachel Khoo was also delicious.

I put a new outfit set up on the shop and it was gone in 20 minutes. Perfect timing for Aussies it would seem as most will be flying to Australia! The best way to have a chance at buying an outfit is to sign up to my mailing list, just send me an email!

Last day in Crete

On my last day my uncle took us to a beach that’s only accessible by jeep, because the roads are so rough and dangerous. It was a small beach and had no nudists so my interest in it ended then and there, we did however have a good fish and seafood meal afterwards.

Lovely little fish fried in batches and eaten whole.

This is a popular local cinnamon and caramel flavoured drink I could have galons of, too bad for the insane amount of food colouring.

You can’t go 5 meters in Greece without finding a chruch, and they used to build churches EVERYWHERE, here’s one in a cave.

Chania

Dad took me for a drive to Chania, the most beautiful city in Crete. It was a long journey but worth it. The old town by the harbour was gorgeous. We had a great seafood meal and a long stroll.

At first I thought these were lobsters with their claws cut off but they’re something entirely different.

I absolutely love greek cuisine but I had forgotten just how much frying goes on. I just think it’s a waste, grilled fish and seafood is so much tastier, not to mention healthier.

We also went to the remnant of an ancient palace up on a hill, the view was amazing. All of these are olive trees, Crete is absolutely covered in them.

My dad took me to a nearby village he loves, build on a mountain slope, with a wonderful view and charming old houses. The landscape is typically Cretan – very dry, making a lovely contrast with the sea and sky in the background.

These mountains are full of wild thyme so many beehives are installed here, can you spot them above? These make a wonderful honey! I brought a jar back to London.

This church is 500 years old and has been through rough times, the frescos inside are terribly damaged.

This old lady has the prettiest flowers in the village! Look at those basils!!!

I’ve just come back from my holidays in Greece. I went for my cousin’s wedding and also took the chance to spend a couple weeks in Crete with my parents. Lack of internet and sewing machine meant relaxation and absolutely no work!!! Though I did sketch a bit and designed new packaging for my outfits, but more on that later.

The weather was wonderful, pretty hot but not too hot, for me anyway, my parents were melting. Spent a lot of time with my dad which was great, normally we can’t spend 3 minutes without fighting. I think he has finally recognised that I’ve sorted out my life more or less and doesn’t criticise every little thing. I think he has mellowed also with age so we get along just fine now.

When we go to Crete we take a ferry in the evening and arrive in the morning. Sleeping on a boat is kindof funny and I always think of Titanic haha. As soon as we arrive in Heraklion we have a little tradition of going straight for bougatsa, a wonderful semolina cream in phylo pastry dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon.

I spent a lot of afternoons on this balcony, with coffee and my book, or sketching. We went to the beach either early in the morning or in the afternoon, to avoid the scorching midday sun. At my favourite beach I left my parents to “go for a walk” and walked to the nudist bit. ;D Lots of hot germans there haha.

Of course I had a lot of food at home and in taverns. Cretan cuisine is my favourite.

Here on the top left was lettuce with dry figs and watermelon and a balsamic vinegar dressing, really good but I think would have been better with rocket. Bottom left is mashed fava beans, absolutely DELICIOUS and on the right wild greens served with fava beans to counterbalance the bitterness.

My parents love these but I don’t eat them because they’re cooked alive.

I love fried squid.

Where there’s food there’s cats. Every time we ate out we were surrounded.

Time for a little meze! Barley rusks, cheese, olives, greek beer and white wine.
