Middie Blythe

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Super exciting news! A new Blythe size will be introduced this autumn!

I’ve been waiting for this for years! The first time I saw a Blythe in person I thought they looked so BIG, I expected them to be much smaller from the photos, like Odeco size. It seems that Middie Blythe will be around that size. I wonder if she will have an eye changing mechanism. I hope so, because sleep eyes would be a little boring. My biggest worry is the face really, what will the sculpt look like? I hope it’s true to the kenner face, only shrunken down, and not an entirely new face.

I think this is a much needed novelty for the Blythe world, we’re nearing 10 years of Neo now! It will be great to work on a new size of clothing and new customs.

Kenner prototype to go on sale

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Yatabazah has decided to put his kenner prototype nicknamed “Box” up for sale. She is the doll used in the kenner packaging photos, the doll box, the clothing boxes as well as the carry case. Her resin head is handmade and handpainted, mounted on a Skipper body. Her hair is rooted on a loose scalp that sits atop her head. Her eyechips are a different design that the final dolls and the colours in different positions. Her lashes are also different and very thick.

An amazing piece of Blythe history and the only known surviving prototype. It would be great if she could be bought by a doll museum to go on display, like the Yokohama doll museum in Japan or CWC for display at Junie Moon!

The asking price is $15,000.

First kimono

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I made this kimono months and months ago but never got around to photographing it. I’m putting it up for sale cheapish because it has a little fault!

I’m also selling my NRFB Bird Song Duet on ebay.

To fund my upcoming trip to Japan, I decided to have a raffle with the girl I was about to put on ebay. It’s always much more fun I think when someone can win with as little as $10!

All the information to participate is right here!

Mysterious eyechips!

Friday, August 29th, 2008

I found those eyechips among an old doll maker’s supplies some time ago. It’s pretty obvious they are the same design with Kenner Blythe eyechips, despite their varying sizes, but what’s more interesting is they come in the exact same 4 colours Blythe’s eyes came in. There has got to be some kind of connection, but what would that be?

(Blythe eyechip at the top, for reference)

Some 50s dress me dolls have similar sparkly eyes, but this exact eyechip design was originally seen in Little Miss No Name in 1965, and was then used again in 1972 in Blythe and Emerald Witch. Have you found any more dolls with those eyes?
