26さいです。^.^

This is a calendar page from the day I was born that my grandma kept. We found it in her house when she died.

She wrote “I was born 8-8-1984, day Wednesday, time 11am, L. Zafiropoulos” with so many spelling mistakes. :) The little poem says something along the lines of “It seems easier to empty the sea, to throw it ashore, than to forget you”. :3

Natsuko and Licca sent me their wishes hahahaa

September Tokyo trip

August 7th, 2010

Plane tickets: check
Hotel deposit: check

I was sooo lucky with the tickets, amongst all the £800 deals I found one for £577 with Alitalia! The only “catch” is that I end up staying more than I planned, two whole weeks. But how could that ever be a bad thing? The day after my return I have to enroll at uni. Well that was close!

I’ll be staying at the little Koenji guesthouse again, I think they gave me the same room as last time, up on the roof, where I can watch the trains go by.

Now I just have to prepare for Doll show. I will display my U-noa dolls from my Dollybird “Alice and the Twin Mad Hatters” spread and sell some outfits for Blythe. I also need to start preparing for Blythecon UK in October, but there’s a little more time for that.

My U-noa Light Azurite

August 5th, 2010

I love him, he’s so cute! He has a faceup and body blushing by Gentaro Araki. I’m amazed at all the details for such a small scale, never seen a 1/6 doll so beautifully detailed. Araki’s sculpting ability is amazing!

I love his feet :3

And little geta sandals

Noeru loves him too

Airplane tickets

August 4th, 2010

I’m looking to book tickets to Tokyo for September so I can attend Doll Show 29, but they’re extremely expensive at the moment! I usually pay about £550 return and now the cheapest I could find was over £700. There must have been some promotion over there because the flights back to London are packed. Now all I can do is keep checking constantly online if something cheap pops up, otherwise I’m not going at all. :(

The only cheap option is with Turkish airlines but it involves an overnight stay in Istanbul. If I had company I could treat this as a little adventure but I’m on my own…so no.

Dollybird Vol.14 arrives

August 2nd, 2010

Yoko-san’s cute note.

Such a beautiful cover!

The first two pages of my spread.

My characters were U-noa Lusis as Alice and U-noa B-el (+sleeping faceplate) as the Twin Mad Hatters. I’m very happy to be able to introduce my work with U-noa through the publication that has supported them so much from the very beginning. I love Dollybird and this issue in particular is one of the best in my opinion.

One of my most favourite artists ever is featured also, Mr. Julien Martinez from France.

He’s one of the most talented and inspiring people I have met and a very sweet and kind person too.

Azurite

August 2nd, 2010

I received this cutie just in time for my birthday. I wanted to wait to open him on the 8th but I didn’t last more than a few hours. These dolls are so rare that I hardly ever see pictures of them. Mine was assembled and painted by Gentaro Araki himself. I’m so happy to have him.

My U-noa family is complete now. Perhaps I will get a Unoss in the future. I’m anxiously waiting to see the new doll Araki will introduce this year!

Hana and Alice/花とアリス (2004)

July 31st, 2010

I knew this was going to be a wonderful film within the first few minutes. So beautiful and deeply touching. Every feeling feels so real. The photography and light are breathtaking and Yuu Aoi is one of the most precious creatures I’ve ever seen! The ballet scene at the end was so beautiful I cried.

I really love slow films, that are not slow for the sake of it, but evoke meaning in their slow pace. One film that comes to mind is The taste of tea, and Hana to Arisu is another. Just a delight, you must see it!

Childhood love

July 28th, 2010

My childhood obsessions:

They were played back to back by a channel called SevenX in late afternoon, I used to watch them after school while eating cabbage. Don’t ask why.

I was so obsessed with Batman, I wanted to be Batman. I once made a cape out of an orange gingham fabric my mom used as a blanket for picnics and I was planning to go to kindergarten the next day wearing it to impress everyone. Back then I was sharing a room with my little brother and as I was sitting on the top bunk bed with my cape hanging off the side, he thought it a perfect idea to pull on it with all his weight. He pulled and pulled, giggling like an idiot while I was choking to death, I really thought I was going to die. I don’t remember how or why he stopped. But I didn’t wear my cape to school after that.

Sopor

July 21st, 2010

Listening to my favourite artist, Sopor Aeternus, a lot there days. I discovered them during my ghastly teenage years and they’ve stayed with me since. Incredibly sad music, very dark. But comforting to the soul in a way.

Sopor Aeternus – May I kiss your wound?

Sopor Aeternus – No-one is there
