Traditional english smocking is an embroidery technique that gathers and elasticises fabric while creating beautiful decoratif patterns. It dates as far back as the 14th century and was used a lot in children's clothing in the 60s and 70s which is where this line takes inspiration. My smocked dresses are made out of a single strip of fabric with thread and trim that coordinate beautifully. They're gathered and smocked entirely by hand, no pleater involved.

This paricular dress comes with a pair of tea-dyed bloomers with tiny pintucks, lace and ribbon details, a pair of black knee high socks and a large headbow with raw edges.
